Top Five Reasons to Buy FATAL ERROR

- 1 -
FATAL ERROR is Book II in the BackTracker series and we all love a series.

- 2 -
Young teens are developing a mature sense of justice and FATAL ERROR addresses all those grey areas of what is right, what is wrong, who’s to blame and what the penalty should be. This novel might be a youngster’s first exposure to literature that doesn’t provide all the answers, calls into question the integrity of the legal and judicial justice systems, and gives readers the option to form their own opinions on what is fair.

- 3 -
Katrina is still a child in FATAL ERROR but defies all attempts at parenting her. Adults charged with dealing with rebellious teens find her story enlightening and empowering.

- 4 -
FATAL ERROR is all about dealing with the social, legal and emotional fall out from our mistakes, claiming responsibility for them and accepting the consequences. No matter our age, we must do that in order to move successfully into our future.
- 5 -
Young teens are beginning to gel their self-image and also becoming more adept at understanding and empathizing with others. Through Katrina in FATAL ERROR, youngsters learn to create realistic opinions of themselves and their abilities. Like Katrina, they also begin to appreciate the importance of adult relationships.

Christmas--loving it!

The holiday season is an exceptionally important celebration in my family, a fact that at times leads to a lot of pressure and friction as family members each pursue their own ideas of what constitutes the ‘perfect’ Christmas. Children marry and have kids of their own, bringing new obligations and traditions into play

Some coping strategies that have worked for me over the years include:
  1.  Embrace new traditions as well as honoring old ones. When we understand why a specific tradition is meaningful to a loved one, it is easy for us to embrace it. Encouraging all family members to talk openly about what is special to them about the holidays helps create a shared sense of wonder and excitement. As well, such discussions allow us to eliminate stressful traditions that are no longer important.
  2. Easily and willingly adapting our celebrations to accommodate the changing lifestyles of family members is very soothing on everyone’s nerves. It’s just a matter of admitting that what worked well twenty years ago, might not be as workable or enjoyable today.
  3. Invest energy in the traditions that make you happiest, don’t wait for others to create that happiness for you. And don’t fret about the time or money you invest, remind yourself that you are doing it because it what you love doing.
  4. Reduce the focus on gifts and giving to accommodate the financial situations of everyone involved. After all, that’s not what Christmas is all about.
  5. The Christmas traditions that make us so happy were gifted to us by our ancestors and it’s important to take the time to share fond memories of loved ones who are no longer with us. Sharing memories of Christmases past will bond the generations.
  6. To determine what is important about the season to you, think back to what you remember most about long-ago Christmases. The lights, the colours, the music. Family gatherings, Christmas concerts and Bible stories. Oranges, nuts, candy canes, turkey, wrapping paper and Christmas cards—the most treasured memories often have nothing to do with big expenses and everything to do with sharing the wonders of the season with those you love.
From my family to yours,
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
all the best to you and yours
in 2015!

Top Five Reasons to Buy THE TRAZ

Top Five Reasons to Buy THE TRAZ

- 1 -

Young teens are enthralled with Katrina, who is not only beautiful, clever and wealthy but also able to explore the exciting adult world free from parental supervision. Not only that, THE TRAZ is Book 1 in the BackTracker series and we all know how teens love series!

 - 2 - Caught up in the excitement of the story, readers may very well miss the social messages. No worries, though. THE TRAZ also comes in a School Edition complete with an international resource list for those wanting help with or more information on the social issues touched on in the novel—such as grief, depression, gangs, swearing, illicit drugs and addictions.

- 3 -

To survive on the street and in the gang, Katrina must become an expert on body language—be able to tell if someone is lying, is afraid or has ulterior motives. She also must become an expert at concealing her own emotions. THE TRAZ (cleverly disguised as a thriller) is actually a handbook for learning that all-important adult task of mastering body language.

- 4 -
The Discussion Guide in the back of the School Edition of THE TRAZ provides a great opportunity for those working with at-risk children to initiate discussion on common teen problems. These same children appreciate reading a story about someone their age who talks like them, is in trouble like them yet successfully meets the many challenges she faces.

- 5 -
Gangs such as The Traz biker gang, are not relegated to poor neighbourhoods or immigrant and aboriginal communities. They are powerful, international criminal networks with footholds in the big cities, small towns and rural areas alike. Gangs are known to recruit youngsters to their ranks just as THE TRAZ recruited Katrina. All teens by virtue of their age are ‘at-risk’. Nefarious adults are quick to take advantage of a teen’s need to belong, low self-esteem, depression, naivety, increasing independence, burgeoning sexuality and hormonal and emotional changes. THE TRAZ can be an eye-opener about the dangers of gangs to both teens and the adults in their lives.

Why I like x-country skiing...

"Why I like xcountry skiing" is brought to you by

DISPASSIONATE LIES A winter scene excerpted from this thriller:
She kicked off the covers and hit the remote control by the pillow. The blinds slowly lifted. Wave after white wave of snow, sculpted overnight by the wind, fluted the street and the prairie beyond. The distant mountains were bathed in bright sunlight—crystalline peaks against a cerulean sky.

The snow would likely be gone by tomorrow; a Colorado winter was silent snow sweeping in from the Rockies one day then disappearing beneath a Chinook the next.
Ladesque set her feet on the floor. What was it she wanted to do? Visit the Rockies? Get into the tenth floor vault? Go through some more of her mother’s stuff? Perhaps a note that explained the coded entries in the diary...
